Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers forward Jeremy Ebobisse has been named to the 21-player U-20 U.S. Men's National Team roster for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which runs from May 20-June 11, it was announced today.
Ebobisse, 20, and the U-20 USMNT will hold a week-long training camp in Japan through May 17, before departing to Korea Republic to begin group-stage play in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The U-20 USMNT will open the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup group stage against Ecuador on Monday, May 22, with kickoff set for 1 a.m. (Pacific). Three days later, the U-20s will resume Group F play against Senegal on Thursday, May 25, beginning at 4 a.m. (Pacific), before closing out the group stage against Saudi Arabia on Sunday, May 28, at 2 a.m. (Pacific). All of the U.S.'s group matches will be broadcast live on FS1.
A first-round (4th overall) pick of the Timbers in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, Ebobisse has earned five caps for the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team in 2017, helping the United States win its first CONCACAF U-20 Championship in a penalty shootout win against Honduras in March, while also starting and playing in World Cup qualifying matches to help the team advance to the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
With the Timbers this season, the 20-year-old striker made his MLS debut in Portland's away match against the San Jose Earthquakes on May 6.
