July 26, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS - The Reno Aces won the season series from the Las Vegas 51s for the second time in franchise history with a 3-2 victory on Monday before 3,511 fans at Cashman Field. Kyle Jensen (@TheKJensen42) sparked Reno with a pair of solo home runs on a night when the teams totaled just 12 hits and went a combined 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

The 51s opened the scoring with a leadoff home run from Dilson Herrera in the bottom of the first. Reno tied the game in the second on a productive groundout by Carlos Rivero (@Carlos_Rivero3) that scored Peter O'Brien, who had drawn a one-out walk and then gone first-to-third on a hit-and-run off the bat of Jack Reinheimer (@Reinheimer_08).

Both clubs were scoreless for the next four innings until the Aces took a 2-1 lead when Jensen led off the seventh with a solo home run. Las Vegas (51-50) evened the score at two in the bottom of the eighth when Eric Campbell led off with a single to left, coming around to score on T.J. Rivera's RBI double to right.

The Aces (56-46) answered promptly, as Jensen launched his second homer of the game, a game-winning solo shot to left-center, to lead off the ninth and put Reno ahead 3-2. The contest marked the third consecutive night an Aces player has homered twice in a game after Mitch Haniger (@M_Hanny19) accomplished the feat on Saturday and Sunday.

Jensen's two home runs give him five since the All-Star break and raise his season RBI total to 88 to re-take the Pacific Coast League lead from El Paso's Hunter Renfroe, whose team was idle tonight. Reinheimer also had two hits to give him five knocks in 16 at-bats over his last four games since Thursday following a 1-for-17 start to the second half.

Aces starter Edwin Escobar continued to fare well on the road, pitching 6 1/3 innings and allowing one earned run on two hits (one home run) with four walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 97 pitches, 57 for strikes. The Venezuela native improved to 5-0 with a 2.13 ERA (12 ER/50.2 IP) away from Greater Nevada Field, compared to marks of 0-2 and 12.27 (25 ER/18.1 IP) in Reno. Jimmie Sherfy recorded two strikeouts during a perfect ninth to notch his fourth save.

With the victory, Reno will finish the regular season with a 9-7 record against Las Vegas to win the Silver State Diamond Challenge outright for the first time since 2010. The teams also have split the season series at eight games apiece four times, most recently in 2014.

The Aces return home for an eight-game homestand beginning tomorrow with the opener of a four-game series against the Sacramento River Cats. First pitch from Greater Nevada Field is set for 7:05 p.m. PT. Reno will send right-hander Matt Buschmann (7-6, 5.03) to the mound, while southpaw Adalberto Mejia (3-1, 4.29) will pitch for Sacramento.
