Jenks Nets Overtime Winner for Walleye 3-2 over Quad City

(Toledo, OH) A.J. Jenks scored 54 seconds into overtime to lead the Walleye to a 3-2 win over Quad City Sunday in front of a standing room only crowd of 7,503 at the Huntington Center. Toledo has an overall record of 27-11-1-3 and 14-5-0-1 at home. Toledo won seven of eight consecutive home contests.

Toledo busted out with a quick start by scoring a pair of first period goals. Shane Berschbach (14th) gave the Walleye a 1-0 lead 5:44 into the first period with a shot that deflected past Quad City goaltender Steve Michalek. Scott Czarnowczan made it 2-0 when he followed his own rebound with a perfect wrist shot at 9:55 for his 3rd goal of the season.

The Mallards started to roll after the point and scored a pair of second period goals to even the score at two. The third period went by without a goal from either side to send Toledo to their ninth overtime game of the year. Shane Berschbach fed a pass across the Mallards zone to A.J. Jenks (14th) who wristed a shot into the top left corner of the net for the game-winner.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jake Paterson stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced and improved his record to 7-7-1-1 on the season. A.J. Jenks finished the game with a goal and an assist and has had at least one point in Walleye record tying ten game point streak (6g, 10A). The sellout tonight was the eleventh of the season for the Walleye.
