Ontario Fury News Release
The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, are proud to announce that Jeff Pope, the voice of the Citizens Business Bank Arena, will continue in his public address duties for the Ontario Fury's inaugural season.
Pope, who is entering his sixth season as the Ontario Reign's public address announcer, grew up in Upland and lives in Riverside. Until recently, he was the morning drive DJ for KGGI radio.
"We're very happy to have Jeff bring his experience and distinctive announcing style to the Ontario Fury," said Bernie Lilavois, the Fury's president and head coach. "Having a voice familiar and loved by fans across the Inland Empire will help introduce fans to the Fury and to Citizens Business Bank Arena."
Although probably best known in the Inland Empire as a hockey fan - he loves the Los Angeles Kings - he has a love for watching soccer. His father-in-law is from England, who taught Pope about the intricacies of the game. He regularly follows the US Men's National Team, and attended Los Angeles Lazers indoor soccer games at the Forum in Inglewood as a youngster.
"You take the beauty of soccer and the fast-pace of hockey, what's not to like - Pope said about getting the chance to be part of the Fury's inaugural season. "I'm sure you're going to run into Fury fans that like the Reign, and back-and-forth, and to be the official Reign guy and now the Fury guy, I hope they don't start charging me rent to basically live at Citizens Business Bank Arena."
The Fury will open their first season with a preseason game against Toros Mexico at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Single tickets are available at the arena box office, or on its website at cbbankarena.com. For information about season or group packages, fans should go to the Fury's website at ontariofury.com or call 909-240-5342.
