July 16, 2016 - Eastern League (EL1)
Erie SeaWolves News Release

A night after being shut out, the SeaWolves returned the favor, taking down the Akron RubberDucks 1-0 on Saturday night at Canal Park.

The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the top of the fourth inning against RubberDucks starter Rob Kaminsky with the game's lone run. Wynton Bernard led off and clobbered a solo home run to left for a 1-0 lead. The home run for Bernard was his fourth of the season.

Myles Jaye was the story of the night for the SeaWolves. The Erie righty gave up a leadoff double in the first inning to Jordan Smith and would go on to retire 25 consecutive batters.

Jaye came back out for the ninth inning but gave up a one-out single to Ivan Castillo. Jaye was lifted for Joe Jimenez. Jimenez faced Smith and induced a game-ending 6-4-3 double play.

Jaye (4-6) worked a season-high 8.1 scoreless innings. He allowed two hits with no walks while striking out a career-high 11 batters. Jaye has now struck out 27 hitters over his past three starts.

Kaminsky (4-6) took the loss allowing one run on seven hits with no walks and six strikeouts.

The SeaWolves will look for the series win on Sunday afternoon against the Ducks at 2:05 p.m. RHP David Martinez (0-1, 2.25 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Nick Pasquale (1-2, 3.38 ERA).
