Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators opened their three-game series in Erie with a 5-2 in on Monday night. The Senators (16-20) stroked 13 hits with five different players notching at least two. The SeaWolves (16-21) had their three-game winning streak snapped with the loss.

Jaron Long started for the Senators and delivered five shutout innings in earning his second win of the season. Long allowed four hits and struck out three while walking just one.

John Simms followed Long and went four innings, the longest relief outing of the season for the Senators. He picked up his first save this season and his fifth as a professional pitcher. He allowed two runs on two hits. With the terrific pitching the Senators lowered their team ERA to a season low 4.04.

Meanwhile the offense created plenty of opportunities but scored just five times, which was enough. The Senators scored four unearned runs in the game with Wilmer Difo driving in Spencer Kieboom with the only earned run that scored. The Senators scored two in the first and one in the second which was more than enough for Long and Simms.

Chris Bostick drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and ninth inning single.

Difo had three hits to go with his RBI. Rafael Bautista, Isaac Ballou and Spencer Kieboom all had two hits in the game. Bautista and Difo worked a double steal which led to the Senators scoring two insurance runs in the ninth inning.

Game two of the three-game series is Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. with RH Tyler Mapes on the hill for the Senators against RH Myles Jaye for Erie.

Game two of the series is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Richmond.
