Birmingham Barons News Release

BILOXI, Miss. - Jacob Nottingham stuck a thorn in the Barons' side twice on Saturday night, blasting an RBI double and a three-run home run to lead the Biloxi Shuckers to a 6-1 win over the Birmingham Barons.

Both Birmingham starter Jordan Guerrero and Biloxi starter Corbin Burnes battled through two and a half scoreless before the Shuckers scored three times in the third. An RBI base hit from Tyrone Taylor started the scoring, a sacrifice fly off the bat of Michael Choice followed, before Nottingham capped off the inning with his RBI double.

Mason Robbins collected his 24th RBI of the season with a single in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1 and stop Burnes' shutout streak at 16.2 innings.

But the rally was short lived as Nottingham hammered a three-run home run over the wall in left field in the fifth, his fourth of the season, signaling the end of the night for Guerrero.

Burnes' night was also done after five innings, as he turned the game over to Nick Ramirez after giving up just four hits and one run, while striking out five.

Ramirez pitched three scoreless innings and Jorge Lopez came on to retire the Barons in the ninth, helping to secure the 6-1 victory for the Shuckers.

Burnes picked up win number three of the season, while Guerrero dropped to 6-8 with the loss, marking his first loss in seven decisions, dating back to May 26. Robinson Leyer and Jace Fry combined to toss 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
