IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The 2-0 Elmira Jackals look for a third-straight win to start the 2011-2012 campaign when they host the Florida Everblades at First Arena at 7:35 p.m. The game is the first of six between the two squads this season.
DEFENSE, NETMINDING BEAR DOWN
The Jackals allowed just four goals all weekend, one season after allowing eight on opening weekend. Elmira is tied for fifth in the ECHL in goals against/game at 2.00, a stat the Jackals were second-to-last in during the 2010-2011 season at 3.67.
SHORT-HANDED STALWARTS...AGAIN'
Elmira led the league in short-handed goals with 18 in 2010-2011 and scored its first goal while down a man this season last Saturday when Mike Ratchuk feathered a puck into the net from the slot in the second period. The Jackals are one of six teams to have scored a short-handed goal through the first week of the season.
