IWFL Announces New Teams
October 13, 2004 - Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) News Release
The Independent Women's Football League is proud to announce several new teams for the 2005 season. Each year the league reviews the performance of X Teams and accepts applications for new membership licenses. This year the IWFL again confirms its standing as the top level of play for womens football in the United States. The expansion brings pro level womens football to the Midwest and deep south as well as cementing the IWFL in the western states. Long touted as the Big League of womens football, this latest growth proves the IWFL is The Premier Womens League.
Teams advancing to full member status are the Texas Revolution, Baton Rouge Wildcats, Detroit Predators, Kansas City Storm, Orlando Mayhem, Jacksonville Dixie Blues, Southern Maine Rebels, Rhode Island Intensity, and Redding Rage. There also several new X Teams that will be announced in the weeks to come. This has been a long time in the making. These are all strong organizations that bring the dedication and expertise needed to make this sport successful, stated IWFL Conference Director, Kezia Disney, this new group of full member teams has shown the high quality of operations necessary to obtain a license in the IWFL.
Founded in 2000, the IWFL is a member organization of team owners created to support the new sport of women's tackle football. The IWFL enables its member teams to function independently, focusing on their local markets while combining resources and strategies for the successful marketing and promotion of women's football.
The IWFL is home to the most successful and talented womens football teams in the United States. New teams undergo extensive background checks and interviews before being admitted to the league. This process ensures the level of play remains high for the fans and enables the IWFL to continue to set the standard as Americas number one womens football league
