Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Daniel Castro paced the Isotopes (42-44) with four hits Thursday night as Albuquerque defeated Sacramento (33-52), 4-3, to win the three-game series at Isotopes Park.
The four-hit game was Castro's second of the year while his batting average has risen to a season-best .321, the highest currently on the team. The shortstop's RBI double in the fourth inning put the Isotopes ahead 3-2. Jordan Patterson added to the lead in the fifth inning, driving in Ryan McMahon with a double to center.
Ryan Carpenter earned his fifth win of the season after allowing three runs and 11 hits in 5.2 innings. The southpaw also struck out four batters, bringing his season-total to 100. Carpenter is now the 18th Isotope to ever strike out 100 batters in a single-season.
Relievers Austin House, Zac Rosscup and Carlos Estevez combined for 3.1 scoreless innings of relief to close out the victory. Estevez picked up his first save of the season.
The Isotopes continue their homestand Friday night when they welcome the Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A Mets) to Isotopes Park. Matt Flemer (2-6, 6.97) will start the series opener for Albuquerque while Las Vegas will send right-hander Donovan Hand (2-3, 6.86) to the mound.
