Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - Albuquerque edged Memphis 4-2 Saturday night at AutoZone Park to tie the series up at two games apiece in the best of five games.

The Isotopes took a 3-0 lead in the third before Steven Hill hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to put the 'Birds on the board. Hill's homer was the only Redbird runs on the night, as 'Topes starter Fernando Nieve recovered from the two-run dinger to combine with two relievers and blank the 'Birds through the remained of the game. Tim Federowicz tacked on an insurance run for the Isotopes in the eighth with an RBI-single.

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman collected his first hit in his second rehab game, leading off the sixth inning with a base hit to center field. Berkman is 1-for-5 with one run scored, one walk and one strikeout in two games.

Memphis starter Tyler Lyons took the loss, giving up three runs on eight hits over six innings with five strikeouts. Nieve earned the win allowing two runs on four hits in his six innings pitched while Josh Wall notched his 27th save with a scoreless ninth inning.

The 'Birds and 'Topes wrap up their series tomorrow with game time slated at 6:05 p.m. Tomorrow is Fan Appreciation Night at AutoZone Park.
