Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Isotopes (22-25) bats came alive on Wednesday evening in Papillion, NE, soundly defeating the Omaha Storm Chasers 12-4. The 12 runs scored and 16 hits recorded both mark new season-highs for Glenallen Hill's squad.

The scoring barrage was launched in the second inning; a frame that saw the Isotopes put four runs on the board. Third baseman Chris Nelson drove home the Isotopes first run on an RBI single. Shortstop Tim Smalling followed with a two-run home run, his third on the year. Second baseman Rafael Ynoa then went back-to-back with Smalling, recording his first long ball of the campaign.

Albuquerque then followed with a two-run third inning, with outfielders Noel Cuevas and Brandon Barnes each knocking in a run for the Isotopes.

Ynoa would come through with his second RBI of the game in the fourth inning, knocking home Smalling on a single.

Leading 8-2 after four innings, the Isotopes would break the game wide open in the sixth, a frame that saw the club plate four more runs. Outfielder Mike Tauchman started the scoring in the inning, knocking home Smalling. Stephen Cardullo would then bring home Tauchman before being knocked in himself on Tom Murphy's fourth home run of the year.

The Isotopes three home runs during the contest are the most the club has hit in a single game in 2016.

Now leading 11-2 in the seventh inning, Cardullo would add the 12th run of the game for the Isotopes on an RBI single.

In his second Triple-A start, Isotopes pitcher Harrison Musgrave picked up the win, going 7.0 innings while allowing just two runs on five hits. The southpaw struck out four and walked two on the evening.

The Isotopes look to take three of four from the Storm Chasers when the two clubs wrap up their series tomorrow night. Right-hander Matt Flemer (3-1, 4.09) is scheduled to take the hill for the Isotopes while the Storm Chasers will counter with Jonathan Dziedzic (1-5, 4.54). First pitch from Werner Park is set for 5:35 p.m.
