Islanders Recall Poulin

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (February 17, 2012) - The New York Islanders announced today that Kevin Poulin has been recalled from loan on emergency basis from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The transaction comes one day after goaltender Evgeni Nabokov missed a scheduled start in St. Louis due to flu-like symptoms. The Islanders also placed Travis Hamonic on injured reserve with a broken nose and facial injuries, retroactive to Feb. 4.

Poulin, 21, has played in three games for the Islanders this season, posting a 2.73 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. In his most recent start, Poulin recorded 21 saves to earn his first win of the season on Jan. 31 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

A native of Montreal, QC, Poulin leads all Sound Tigers goalies this season with 14 wins. He has a 2.73 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in 28 appearances. Last season, Poulin appeared in 10 games with the Islanders, recording a 4-2-0 record with a 2.44 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. The Islanders selected Poulin in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
