IronPigs Rally to Top Chiefs, 6-4

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (64-41) rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to pick up a 6-4 win and complete a three-game sweep of the Syracuse Chiefs (47-57) on Wednesday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park.
Syracuse had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the ninth trailing 6-4, but RHP Luis Garcia (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K) fanned Matt Den Dekker and got Jason Martinson to ground to second and end the game. Garcia picked up his 6th save of the year.
Trailing 6-4 at the time, the Chiefs had runners at the corners with one out in the eighth, but RHP Frank Herrmann (1.0 IP, H, K) fanned Pedro Severino and got Zach Collier to fly to left and end the threat. Brian Goodwin's solo shot off LHP Elvis Araujo (0.1 IP, H, R, ER) had brought the Chiefs within 6-4 earlier in the inning.
The Pigs took the lead for good at 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth as Nick Williams led off with a double, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch charged to Chiefs starter Austin Voth with two outs in the inning. Later in the frame, Andrew Knapp drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on Cam Perkins' RBI single to open up a 5-3 lead for Lehigh Valley.
Voth (5-7) gave up the five runs (four earned) on five hits to go along with two walks and seven strikeouts in 6.0 IP.
Syracuse took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second as Den Dekker led off with a single, advanced to second on a sac bunt and scored on Caleb Ramsey's RBI single.
In the top of the third, a pair of singles put two men on with one out before Den Dekker extended the lead to 3-0 for the Chiefs with a two-run double.
Pigs starter Ben Lively (5-4) gave up the three runs on eight hits while fanning five in 6.2 IP.
The IronPigs cut the lead to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the fourth. Darnell Sweeney (2-4, 2B, RBI, R) led off with a double, went to third on a groundout and scored when Williams reached on an error charged to Chiefs 2B Steve Lombardozzi and Williams later came home on Aaron Altherr's RBI single.
In the home half of the fifth, Jesmuel Valentin drew a one-out walk, advanced to second on a sac bunt and scored on Sweeney's two-out RBI single to tie things at three apiece for the Pigs.
Emmanuel Burriss led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on J.P. Crawford's RBI single to open up a 6-3 lead for the IronPigs.
The IronPigs will enjoy an off day on Thursday before opening a three-game set with the Rochester Red Wings on Friday night at Frontier Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. as RHP Phil Klein (1-0, 1.29) gets the ball for the Pigs against Red Wings LHP Pat Dean (3-6, 5.42).
