Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY- The Aberdeen IronBirds beat up on the Hudson Valley Renegades tonight, 9-2, thanks in large part to two Conor Bierfeldt home runs. The IronBirds hit four home runs in the series, and swept the Renegades for the first time since July of 2006.

The IronBirds got off to a terrific start. With one out, Jeff Kemp and Trey Mancini hit back to back singles. Two batters later, Manny Hernandez roped a triple down the right field line, scoring Kemp and Mancini easily. Hector Veloz scored Hernandez on a broken bat RBI single and it was 3-0 Aberdeen after one.

Conor Bierfeldt had himself a night. In the fifth inning, after Trey Mancini hit an RBI single scoring Jeff Kemp, Bierfeldt homered to left, extending the IronBirds' lead to 6-1.

Hudson Valley scored a run in th ebottom of the fifth. After a leadoff triple for Granden Goetzman, John Alexander hit an RBI groundout and it was 6-2 Aberdeen.

Bierfeldt then hit his second home run of the game, with Kris Richards aboard, and it was 8-2 Aberdeen in the top of the eighth.

Mancini tripled in the 9th and would come in to score on a Hector Veloz RBI single. Mancini was 5-5 tonight, tying an IronBirds' record with five hits in a game. He is the fifth IronBirds player to do so.
