Mahoney drove in two runs with a triple to deep right-center in the first inning. Wally Crancer reached on an error and Anthony Martinez singled before Mahoney ripped a double off Hudson Valley starter Brian Flores.

Aberdeen rallied for two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Martinez drove in Tyler Henson with a single to shallow right before Mahoney followed with a double to left-center which plated Crancer.

Aberdeen IronBirds- 0 (27-32)

WP: Diego Echeverria (3-7) LP: Andrew Schindling (0-3)

Aberdeen, MD- Reid Fronk homered and Diego Echeverria threw five shutout innings as the Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds 6-0 to earn a split in the nightcap of this doubleheader Tuesday.

Fronk's solo homerun off Aberdeen starter Andrew Schindling drove in the first of two runs for Hudson Valley in the third inning. Schindling (0-3) also gave up a Mike McCormick RBI single before being lifted with two outs in the third.

Hudson Valley added four insurance runs in the sixth inning. The first two runs scored when leftfielder Joe Mahoney-playing just his fourth game at the position-dropped a fly ball in the gap and Ian Paxton and Kevin Colon scored.

Echeverria (3-7)-a knuckleballer and former softball pitcher in his native Argentina-threw five shutout innings for the win but walked a tightrope in the fourth inning. Aberdeen loaded the bases with one out but Anthony Martinez grounded into a 5-3 double play which ended the inning. It was Echeverria's best outing of the season-he allowed three or more runs in each of his previous 10 starts.

John Mariotti replaced Schindling and worked 3 1/3 strong innings during which he set down seven straight Renegades at one point.
