DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have bolstered their receiving core by signing former Iowa State Cyclone tight end Ernst Brun, Head Coach Joe Brannen announced today.
Brun (6'4, 245, Iowa State) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Brun played two years at Iowa State University as a tight end after his red shirt season in 2011. During his debut season in 2012, Brun started in the last 11 games making 26 receptions for 330 yards and six touchdowns. Brun's strong debut earned him All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. In 2013, Brun was named team co-captain. Prior to signing with the Iowa Barnstormers, Brun spent time on the Washington Redskins roster in 2015.
"We're happy to add Ernst Brun to our roster. He is an NFL caliber player who earned All-Big 12 during his college career," said Coach Brannen. "He is a big bodied receiver who will give us more options in the red zone. We're excited to see how his skill set translates to the indoor game."
