Iowa Cubs News Release

METAIRIE, LA - The Iowa Cubs (12-14) fell to the New Orleans Baby Cakes (10-17) 11-5 in game one of the twin bill, Thursday at Shrine on Airline, but bounced back for a 2-1 game two victory. Chesny Young highlighted the night, going 5-for-7 with three runs and a double over the two games.

Iowa and New Orleans traded leads through the early innings of game one, but the Baby Cakes claimed control with six fifth-inning runs. Chris Dominguez was the driving force behind Iowa's effort, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and falling a triple shy of the cycle. Young chipped in three hits for his fourth three-hit game of the season.

Iowa's pitching in game two secured the bounce-back win. Dylan Floro, making a spot start, spun 4.0 tough innings, giving up one earned run on three hits, walking none and whiffing two. Zac Rosscup (2-0) held the Baby Cakes hitless while fanning four over 2.0 innings to capture the victory, while Pierce Johnson earned his third save of the season.

Iowa and New Orleans wrap up the series tomorrow at 7 p.m., before the I-Cubs return to Principal Park Saturday for a four-game series with the Memphis Redbirds. Catch all the action with Randy Wehofer on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
