International League Season Preview

Several players of the International League, such as Eloy Jimenez and J.P. Crawford, were sent to the minors after displaying less than appealing spring performances for the MLB. Although it was a tough season, the league manager is expected to make several modifications to the International League prepare for the 2017 season. Jimenez made a .321/.355/.607 slash line with four RBIs and two homers in 16 Cactus League games which impressed Joe Maddon, manager of the Chicago Cubs.

22-year old J.P Crawford is expected to be be playing an increase amount of innings with more at-bats for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Two other prospects outfielder Nick Williams (No.4) and Catcher Jorge Alfaro (No.3) were also assigned by Phillies to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. While Jimenez is awaiting his assignment, the clubs prospects; outfielders Jacob Hannemann (No.29) and Mark Zagunis (No. 7), catcher Victor Caratini (No.13), right-handers Pierce Johnson (No.24) and Felix Pena (No.21), will start the season in a powerful manner with the Iowa Cubs.

The Rays top prospect, Willy Adams, has also been opted to the minor league after an extended look at Spring Training. His solid at-bats have strengthened the league. The players have developed great pose and play with good energy. It should be a very exciting season considering the large number of players with big league experience on the mound.
