Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LAKE ELSINORE, CA) - A pitcher's duel was brewing Saturday night at the Diamond in LakeElsinore until one swing of the bat turned the tide. The score was 0-0 until the fourth inning when a line drive knocked Lancaster starter Robby Donovan out of the game. By the time the JetHawks escaped the inning, the Storm had scored five times, leading them to a 6-2 win. Lancaster (18-25) has lost four out of the last five games and five straight on the road. LakeElsinore (18-25) moves into a tie for third place with the JetHawks.

Donovan pitched well while he was in the game, facing the minimum number of batters in the first three innings while allowing only one hit. His first pitch in the first inning hit Donovan just above his right elbow. While he wanted to remain in the game, the JetHawks coaching staff wanted to be cautious and turned to the bullpen. The Storm took advantage for five runs in the inning before reliever Andrew Robinson could get the final out.

While Robinson and Wander Alvino only allowed one more run over the final four innings, the JetHawks were unable to mount much of an offensive threat with only five hits. Their only runs came due to Storm mistakes. Jonathan Meyer and Rene Garcia singled and were still on base with two outs in the fifth inning when LakeElsinore right fielder Dan Meeley dropped a fly ball for an error. Meyer scored and Garcia advanced to third, putting him in position to score on a wild pitch.

The JetHawks will try to bounce back Sunday afternoon at the Diamond against the Storm. Jake Buchanan (3-2) will pitch for Lancaster against Jerry Sullivan (4-2) of LakeElsinore. The contest will begin at 2:05 and will be broadcast live on radio by 87.7 Kickin' Country and online at CSN at JetHawks.com (click the listen live link). The Pre-Game Show starts at 1:50.

The JetHawks return home Wednesday, May 25 to open a four-game series against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. For tickets and other information, call (661) 726-5400 or visit JetHawks.com.
