Laurel, MD - Maryland Indoor Football Expansion, based in Laurel, Maryland, is set to announce its arena, team name, and introduce fans to its league, the Indoor Football League (IFL), at a press conference scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, at 1:00 PM at the Soccer Dome located in Jessup, Maryland. The press conference is slated to start immediately following the expansion team's opening player tryout.
"These are exciting times for Maryland football fans," stated Owner Messay Hailemariam. "We offer hard hitting play, the closest seats in sports, and lots of personal interaction. Fans will have the opportunity to catch stray footballs and keep them, hop on the field for contests, and meet their favorite players for autographs after each game. Indoor football is expanding across the country and we're proud to bring it to the fans in Maryland."
The ownership group is comprised of Hailemariam, Alvin "Jerome" Nichols II, and David Yee. Hailemariam and Yee are graduates of the University of Maryland. Nichols graduated from Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C., and following his career at Wake Forest University, was a free agent signee of the Washington Redskins.
The press conference is scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, at 1:00 PM at the Soccer Dome located at 7330 Montevideo Rd., Jessup, MD 20794. Phone (443) 755-0014, Website: www.soccerdome.com. The team will conduct its first tryout for the 2009 season from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
