Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians are pleased to introduce a new community effort called Strikeout Homelessness at Victory Field. The Tribe will donate $25 to Wheeler Mission for each strikeout by an Indians pitcher at Victory Field from June 1-Aug. 30, 2008.

The Indians are challenging organizations throughout central Indiana to match their pledge. Organizations are encouraged to pledge anytime from June 1-Aug. 1. Pledges may be a smaller or larger amount per strikeout.

"The Indians are challenging corporations of central Indiana to help Strikeout Homelessness at Victory Field," Indians Vice President & General Manager Cal Burleson says. "Homelessness in central Indiana is a growing problem, and Wheeler Mission needs our help. We look forward to many corporations joining with the Indians at Victory Field to Strikeout Homelessness with a generous pledge."

Regardless of pledge amount, all co-sponsors will receive the same high level of publicity at Victory Field. The recognition includes pre and post-game public address announcements, plus a pre-game video board spot.

"We are so excited to be partnering with the Indians, and we are grateful for their commitment to helping care for the homeless of our community," Wheeler Mission President Rick Alvis adds.

Organizations or individual parties can make a donation by contacting Indians Sponsorship Sales Executive Meagan Gonser at 317-269-3542 ext. 297 or mgonser@IndyIndians.com.

The Indians open an eight-game homestand on Friday when Toledo comes to Victory Field for a 7:15 p.m. affair. Tickets for all home games are available by visiting the Victory Field Box Office at 501 West Maryland Street, going on-line at www.IndyIndians.com or calling Ticketmaster at 317-239-5151.
