Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians will host the 2013 City and County Championship this Thursday, May 9 at Victory Field. The City Championship features Scecina Memorial and Cathedral at 5:30 p.m., followed by a matchup between North Central and Franklin Central for the County Championship starting no earlier than 7:30 p.m.
Gates for the City and County Championships will open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 and kids ages two and under will be admitted for free. Parking will be available in the Victory Field parking lot for $3.
In the first contest, defending tournament champs the Cathedral Fighting Irish, led by head coach Rich Andriole, will match up against the Scecina Memorial Crusaders, led by head coach Ted Clements, for the 2013 City Championship. The two teams faced off against each other earlier this season, with Cathedral delivering a combined perfect game in a 10-0 victory over Scecina.
The 2013 County Championship will cap off the evening's pair of title games, as the North Central Panthers, led by head coach Phil McIntyre, square off against head coach John Rockie's Franklin Central Flashes. The two baseball powerhouses enter the matchup both ranked among the top 25 high school teams in Indiana, with the Panthers rated No. 10 overall, and the Flashes ranked No. 25, according to MaxPreps, an offshoot of CBSSports.com.
Come out and celebrate summer with your Indianapolis Indians. Tickets for the City and County Championships will be available at the Victory Field Box Office the day of the games, while seats for the Tribe's 2013 season are currently available online at IndyIndians.com, through the Indians' single-game ticket hotline at 317-269-2282 or by visiting the Victory Field Box Office on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
