Indiana Ice Blanked in Day Game

November 14, 2012 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Indiana Ice News Release

Indy's two-game winning streak came up an abrupt halt against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Wednesday, falling 3-0 to the Eastern Conference rival at L.C. Walker Arena.

The matinee contest marks the first time Indy has been shutout since January 12, 2011 when the Ice surrendered a pair of unanswered goals to the Waterloo Black Hawks at the Pepsi Coliseum.

Scoring opportunities were relatively even during the opening frame as Ice goaltender Dalton Izyk turned away all 12 of Muskegon's shots in the opening frame. Indy's offense mustered a game-high 10 shots in the first, but were unable to find the twine.

Minnesota Wild prospect Adam Gilmour gave the Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the second period.

Back-to-back power play opportunites in the third period allowed Muskegon to build a 15-9 shot advantage in the final frame, with former Indiana Jr. Ice forward Mason Jobst and Riley Alferd scoring to finalize the tilt at 3-0.

The Ice will host the Lumberjacks in a rematch of Wednesday's game this Friday at 7:05 pm from Pan Am Plaza. Indy then travels to Green Bay on Saturday for a 4:05 pm faceoff with the Green Bay Gamblers.
