Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever have announced the signing of free agent forward Deveraux Peters, a former first-round draft pick who starred at Notre Dame. As part of a sign-and-trade deal with Minnesota, Natasha Howard has been dealt to the Lynx. Per team policy, terms of Peters' contract are not disclosed.

Peters, a 6-2 native of suburban Chicago, was the third overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft and completed four seasons with the Lynx. She was part of Minnesota's championship teams in 2013 and 2015, and appeared in all five games of the 2012 WNBA Finals in which the Lynx lost to Indiana.

Despite appearing in at least 28 games in each of four WNBA seasons, Peters was largely relegated to a reserve role with the star-studded Lynx. She averages 4.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor during her WNBA career. In 31 career playoff games, she owns averages of 2.9 points and 2.4 rebounds, with 50.6 percent shooting accuracy.

At Notre Dame, Peters helped the Irish to three consecutive NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances and a pair of Final Four trips as a junior and senior. The 2012 Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year, she will be reunited in Indiana with Natalie Achonwa, with whom she starred for two years as college teammates.

Currently, Peters plays for Wisla Krakow, a traditional EuroLeague power who is 14-2 atop the Polish League standings. She averages 12.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.

Howard appeared in 64 games for the Fever over two seasons, averaging 5.7 points with 2.9. She was the ninth-overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft.

A WNBA playoff participant in 11 straight seasons and 12 times since 2002, the Indiana Fever have reached at least the conference finals eight times in the past 11 years - including WNBA Finals appearances in 2009 and 2015, and a WNBA championship in 2012.
