IFL Week 18 Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 18 of the 2017 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK : Drew Powell (QB, Nebraska Danger)

After defeating the Wichita Falls Nighthawks 59-44 in the final week of the regular season, the Nebraska Danger will be advancing to their fifth consecutive Intense Conference Championship. The Danger are advancing to the playoffs based off the strength and decision making of QB Drew Powell. Powell tied a Danger team record against the Nighthawks, rushing for five touchdowns on the night. Powell's five touchdowns were the most by an IFL player this season. The dual-threat QB also completed 17 of 23 passes for 167 yards and one touchdown in the Danger's victory. He also rushed for 71 yards. This is Powell's second IFL Offensive Player of the Week award in the last three weeks. The Nebraska Danger travel to take on the Arizona Rattlers Saturday night for right to represent the Intense Conference in the United Bowl.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK : Rashard Smith (DB, Sioux Falls Storm),

The defending IFL champions Sioux Falls Storm made sure the route to the United Bowl goes through Sioux Falls as they ended the Barnstormers 11 game win streak 45-24 in Week 18. DB Rashard Smith cemented the Storm's victory and eighth consecutive playoff appearance as he returned an Iowa interception 49 yards for a touchdown giving the Storm a 21 point lead with less than five minutes remaining. The 2016 First Team All-IFL DB also added eight tackles on the night. This is Smith's second IFL Defensive Player of the Week award this season. The Sioux Falls Storm face a rematch with the Iowa Barnstormers in the United Conference Championship this weekend for the right to represent the United Conference in the 2017 United Bowl.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Miles Bergner (K, Colorado Crush

After taking the Wichita Falls Nighthawks to the brink in Week 17, the Crush followed it up by taking the Arizona Rattlers to the edge in Week 18. The Crush pushed the Rattlers to overtime narrowly falling 47-44. K Miles Bergner followed up his Week 17 Special Teams Player of the Week performance with an even more impressive Week 18. Bergner nailed all five of this field goals (19,25,35,38,42) as well as converted all five of his extra point attempts. In total, the Crush kicker scored 20 total points for the team in Week 18. Over the last two weeks of the season, Bergner was a astounding nine for nine on both field goal attempts and extra point attempts. The Crush's loss to the Rattlers ended the team's 2017 campaign.
