Ogden Raptors News Release

IDAHO FALLS - Ogden (0-2) fell behind early for the second night in a row and dropped both games of the season opening series at Idaho Falls (2-0) with a 7-2 loss at Melaleuca Field

"We did a much better job throwing strikes tonight, controlling the strike zone," said Raptors manager Shaun Larkin. "But, qhen you throw a lot of strikes, sometimes you give up a lot of hits, and that's what happened tonight."

Miguel Ureî=B1a (0-1) started for Ogden and allowed six runs on ten hits in 3.2 innings. His demise came in the fourth inning when the Chukars rattled off five consecutive hits in the three run inning. Idaho Falls jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first two innings for the second straight night and chased Ureî=B1a from the game with a 6-1 advantage.

Ibandel Isabel and Mitchell Hansen each had two hits for Ogden, with the former notching two RBI doubles. Isabel is responsible for three of the Raptors' four runs batted in for the first two games of the season.

Ogden left seven runners in scoring postion - four on third base - and hit just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

"I thought tonight we have better at-bats as a group," Larkin, said. "We had a couple of times we had runners in scoring postion and we didn't do much damage."

Ogden has an off day Sunday ahead of Monday night's home opener against Grand Junction, the first of a four-game series with the Rockies. While the Raptors will be seeking their first win of 2016, Larkin is not alarmed.

"For the first two games of the season, with these guys still getting their feet wet, I expect better things to come over the course of the summer for these guys. This small of a sample size, I'm not too worried about it at all."

Pregame coverage begins at 6:45pm on the Ogden Raptors Baseball Network on TuneIn. Postgame fireworks immediately follow the game. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
