Rockford, Ill- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced Monday that the Rockford IceHogs, members for the American Hockey League, have signed defenseman Ben Youds (YOWDS) and goaltender Carter Hutton to one-year AHL contracts.

He also led the team in scoring during the 2009-10 season, totaling 26 points and a collegiate career-best 23 assists.

"We're very excited about the addition of Ben Youds as he impressed all of our staff at the past two Prospect Camps in Chicago and is coming off an excellent collegiate career," said Bernard. "We look forward to watching his development over the next year."

During his time in the WCHA, the Maple Grove, Minn. native compiled 67 points (11g-56a) in 145 contests. Youds was also a member of the 2006 USA National U-18 team.

"With the addition of Carter we have added great depth to the goaltending position as he is coming off a very good rookie season where he not only spent time in the AHL but also at the NHL level in San Jose," said Bernard.

"Both of these players bring exceptional qualities in the locker room and on the ice, but once again, their character is what stands out and that is why they are a part of our organization."
