October 29, 2017 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Wolves returned to town tonight as the 'Dogs hosted their annual Halloween game. After having fallen to the Wolves earlier in the month, the IceDogs were looking for some vengeance. Fans came to the game decked out in their Halloween costumes and paraded around the ice during the 2nd intermission showing them off to the crowd

The IceDogs opened the scoring in the first period after missing out on a few big scoring chances early. Kirill Maksimov scored a powerplay goal, his 5th of the season, to get the 'Dogs an early lead. Maksimov's tally from above the faceoff circle was assisted by Elijah Roberts and Akil Thomas. Making his home debut, Colton Incze stayed strong between the pipes as the Wolves came hard following Makismov's goal. By the end of the period, the Wolves scored two unanswered goals, to carry a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period. Despite getting some good looks, the 'Dogs weren't able to beat McGrath in the second period. Incze made some big saves all period to keep the IceDogs down just one goal, but a puck trickled past Colton toward the end of the period to extend the Wolves' lead to 2.

The 'Dogs came out flying in the 3rd period looking to make the most out of the final 20 minutes of the game. Ben Jones got the IceDogs within one on a shorthanded break. Benny's shorthanded goal was his 7th of the season. Josh Dame picked up his third point in 2 games with an assist on Jones' goal. The 'Dogs continued to press hard int he offensive zone, but were unable to beat McGrath. The Wolves capitalized twice on an empty net in the final minute of play to extend their lead to 2. The 'Dogs dropped this one 5-2.

The IceDogs are back in action tomorrow afternoon in Mississauga. TOmorrow's game will be broadcast live on YourTV Niagara, 610 CKTB and live tweeted on twitter, @OHLIceDogs.
