IceDogs Take Two in Barrie for 2-0 Series Lead

April 23, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The IceDogs won big on Saturday night, finishing the game by a final score of 4-1 and taking a 2-0 series lead against Barrie.

There was not much to show in the first period of this contest, as both teams entered the intermission tied at zeros. The IceDogs had the upper-hand when it came to shots however, outshooting the Colts 13-9.

Niagara's first intermission speech must have been a good one because the team came out firing, led by Stephen Harper who struck first for the Dogs just 30 seconds into the second frame. Captain Anthony DiFruscia extended the lead to two on a power-play goal assisted by Josh Ho-Sang and Stephen Harper. Niagara directed 17 shots on target in the period to the Colts' 12, making the shots through 40 minutes 30-21 for the IceDogs.

After Barrie cut the Dogs' lead in half, it was Graham Knott who capitalized on a rebound on a shot by Aleksander Mikulovich, giving Niagara their two-goal lead back. But the Dogs' weren't done there. Brendan Perlini netted his sixth of the postseason on a rocket of a shot which beat the Colts' goaltender and helped ensured the IceDogs' victory.

The IceDogs will host Barrie at home in Game 3 which will take place on Monday, April 25th at 7:00pm. Tickets for this game and the rest of the home games for this series are still available and can be purchased at all IceDogs' ticketing locations.
