IceDogs Lose 6-3 to Rangers

September 9, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs continued their exhibition season today as they visited the Kitchener Rangers at the Aud. The IceDogs had more regulars featuring in today's game; including the season debut of Chicago draft pick Graham Knott.

Starting in net for the IceDogs was rookie Colton Incze.

Kitchener pressured Niagara and had a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.

After Kitchener made it 4-0 early in the frame, Niagara continued to play hard. Their efforts paid off late in the period as Joshua Dame collected a pass in the offensive zone before firing a quick shot on net. Initially saved, he collected his own rebound to slide it pass Dawson Carty of Kitchener. With momentum starting to swing in their favour, Niagara began to draw penalties and found themselves on a 5 on 3. Shortly after the first powerplay expired, Pavel Demin found a loose puck beside the night and buried it for his first goal in an IceDogs uniform.

With the game now at 4-2, the IceDogs entered the final frame on a high. The Rangers would add to their tally a little while later to take a 6-2 lead, but the 'Dogs would respond less than 10 seconds later with a goal by Oliver Castleman by make it 6-3.

That's how the score would stand after 60 minutes, however the IceDogs showed great improvement from their previous two games and will look to build off this momentum tomorrow in Beamsville as they face the Rangers in a rematch.
