January 28, 2017 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

Less than 24 hours after competing hard in Kingston, the IceDogs hit the ice in Ottawa, to match up against their familiar Eastern Conference rivals, the 67s. Saturday's showdown was the 3rd meeting, out of four this season, between the IceDogs and 67s, after the IceDogs took the first two games by a combined score of 11-6.

The 67s took the early lead in the game, but Johnny Corneil struck back to even the score at 1, with his 20th goal of the season! The IceDogs continued to carry the play for much of the first, but they couldn't convert to take the lead.

Early in the 2nd, Ottawa regained the lead, but a few minutes later, Danial Singer scored his 9th of the season, to tie the game up at 2! Singer's goal was assisted by Johnny Corneil, who collected his 20th assist of the season, and Ben Jones! Just before the end of the 2nd period, Aaron Haydon squeezed the puck under the Ottawa goalie's pad, going five-hole to take the 3-2 lead going into the 3rd period! Ben Jones picked up his second assist of the game on Haydon's go-ahead goal.

Oliver Castleman scored his first goal in a rink he grew up wanting to play in, taking the 4-2 lead. Ryan Mantha and Kyle Langdon picked up the assists on Castleman's 11th of the season. The 67s came back to score two quick goals at the halfway point of the period, to tie the game. The game needed overtime, where the 67s scored halfway through to pick up the extra point, and the 5-4 win.

The IceDogs return home on February 2nd as they host the Mississauga Steelheads. Tickets for the February 2nd showdown are still available and can be purchased online HERE or in person at the following locations:
