IceCaps Join Janeway and Johnson for Jamarama

The St. John's IceCaps and their partner Johnson Insurance are pleased to announce they have teamed with the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation for the Janeway's annual Jamarama fundraiser.

Throughout the month of October, the IceCaps will promote this important fundraiser through school and community visits with Buddy the Puffin, digital media channels, television and radio broadcasts and in-game promotions and signage.

The promotion culminates on Friday, October 18th, when the IceCaps host the Hershey Bears at Mile One Centre. Giveaways, concourse displays, video-board features and Jamarama messaging will be part of the game-night experience and additionally all fans in attendance wearing pajamas will receive a 20 percent discount at IceCaps Alley.

Jamarama is one of the Janeway's pivotal fundraising events. Participants raise money and collect pledges to wear their pajamas to work, school or out-and-about town on October 25th in support of the Janeway. Pajamas are worn as a sign of solidarity and support for sick children who are often dressed in pajamas due to circumstance.

"With the help of our community and supporters such as the IceCaps and Johnson, we are turning pajamas into a symbol of support, strength and courage for all our kids."

"Just about all of us here in Newfoundland and Labrador have been touched by the Janeway in some capacity," said Danny Williams, President and CEO of the St. John's IceCaps. "The IceCaps are proud to join with the Janeway Foundation and Johnson to give back to an institution that has done so much for the people of this province."

"Johnson has committed to a five year partnership with the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation to be the presenting sponsor of Jamarama," said John Thompson, Senior Vice President, Growth Initiatives, Johnson Insurance. "We are very pleased to sponsor this initiative and to do our part to support pediatric health care in the province and we're happy to have the IceCaps on board with us."

The Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre's medical team has been providing medical care to children of Newfoundland and Labrador for more than 40 years. Jamarama was launched in 2012 and raised more than $150,000 in its first year. Funding supports state of the art medical equipment, educational health programs and vital medical research.
