St. John's IceCaps News Release
IceCaps Celebrate the Season this Weekend Teddy Toss, Stocking Stuffer Night, Food Drive Highlight Series Versus Springfield
ST. JOHN'S, NL - The St. John's IceCaps will spread Christmas cheer by celebrating the spirit of giving this weekend.
In addition to having Christmas choirs in attendance both nights, the IceCaps will host the following events:
NTV/Salvation Army Teddy Toss
For the sixth year, the IceCaps are teaming with NTV and the Salvation Army for the annual Teddy Toss which will be held Friday, as the Springfield Thunderbirds make their first-ever visit to Mile One Centre.
Patrons are encouraged to bring a plush toy (wrapped in plastic) to the game, which will be donated to an underprivileged child here in Newfoundland and Labrador this Christmas. Last year, approximately 3,000 teddy bears were secured for children in need. Additionally, Santa Claus and Buddy will be on hand during pre-game and intermissions - in the main entrance at Mile One Centre - to take photos with fans.
Food Drive
The St. John's IceCaps/Capital Hyundai food drive in aid of the Community Food Sharing Association wraps up just before game time Friday night.
Fans who bring five or more non-perishable food items to Mile One Centre - until 5 p.m. Friday - will receive two complimentary tickets to Friday night's IceCaps game compliments of Capital Hyundai. Tickets are subject to availability.
Stocking Stuffer Night
On Saturday night, the IceCaps will hold their annual Stocking Stuffer Giveaway night with tons of great prizes being handed out all night long. North Atlantic, Capital Hyundai, Goodlife Fitness, Browning Harvey/Pepsi and Old Dutch are just a few of the participating sponsors. The grand prize for the evening will be a snow-blower courtesy of The Home Depot.
Tickets for these games and those after Christmas, can be purchased at the Mile One Centre box office; by phone at 709-576-7657 (noon-5:30 p.m.), or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
