ICE Mourn for Thomas, Schatz and Broncos
April 7, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kootenay Ice News Release
It is with great sadness that the ICE announce Evan Thomas and Logan Schatz lost their life in Friday's devastating crash involving a semi-truck and the team bus of the Humboldt Broncos.
Thomas, in his first year with the Broncos, was a 10th round pick of the ICE in 2014. Schatz, the team captain, played four seasons in Humboldt and was selected in the ninth round by the ICE in 2012.
Evan and Logan are in the hearts and minds of the Kootenay ICE players, coaches, front office and our entire community. Friday's crash has a fatality count of 15, with 14 more being treated for injuries in hospital.
The Kootenay ICE organization sends our deepest condolences to the Thomas and Schatz families, as well as the Humboldt Broncos organization.
Our hockey family lost 15 members that we will remember forever.
