Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla- The Pensacola Ice Flyers (15-15-6) used four different goal scorers and goalie Matt Zenzola's first official shutout of the season to beat the Peoria Rivermen (18-10-7) by a score of 4-0 and complete the three-game weekend sweep on Sunday evening inside the Pensacola Bay Center.

It didn't take long for the Ice Flyers to take the lead tonight. With Peoria's Garrett Vermeersch in the box for tripping, Ice Flyers captain Corey Banfield batted in the puck from just outside the crease for a power play goal 1:41 into the opening frame. Riley Spraggs and Josh Harris assisted on the goal. Harris cashed in with a goal of his own with 13:07 left in the first to make it 2-0. Banfield and Spraggs had the assists.

Nathan Bruyere fired a bomb from the left point 4:53 into the second for his fourth goal in three games to make it a 3-0 Ice Flyers lead. Harris had the lone assist on the goal. With 9:21 left in the second, Riley Spraggs used a great individual effort to score an unassisted goal and make it 4-0.

Zenzola shut the door the rest of the night and finished the game with 30 saves for his first shutout of the season. His record now stands at 11-7-5.

The Ice Flyers are on the road next weekend as they head to Roanoke, Va., for the first time to take on the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs on Friday and Saturday with a 6:05 p.m. puck drop on both nights. The Ice Flyers will then head to the Rocket City to take on the Huntsville Havoc at 5 p.m. Central on Sunday.
