Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Pensacola Ice Flyers (7-10-5) couldn't capitalize on late chances and fell to the Macon Mayhem (17-3-3) by a score of 2-1 in front of 4,686 fans inside of the Pensacola Bay Center on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, the second period was almost scoreless as well. Macon's Jake Trask scored with 39.7 left in the middle period while the teams were skating 4-on-4.

In the third period, Patrick Megannety tied the game with a beautiful snapshot from the right wing side with 11:35 left in the third. Louis Belisle had the only assist on the goal. Unfortunately, Macon regained the lead just over two minutes later when Daniel Gentzler scored with 9:27 left in regulation. Late in the third, Ice Flyers coach Kevin Hasselberg elected to pull goalie in favor of the extra skater but a late Ice Flyers penalty saw Zenzola return to the crease for a faceoff with 12.7 seconds left.

Zenzola stopped 21 of Macon's 23 shots and his record now stands at 4-5-4 on the season.

Tomorrow's game in Macon, Ga., against the Mayhem has been postponed to a date that has yet to be determined. The Ice Flyers will be back in action next weekend when they host the Fayetteville FireAntz in a pair of games. The game on Friday, Jan. 13, will be Scholarship Night, presented by ExiThis, and then Saturday's game will be Tampa Bay Lightning Night, presented by Dr. Donald Dewey.
