Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C- The Pensacola Ice Flyers (9-12-5) fell to the Fayetteville FireAntz (14-10-1) by a score of 5-2 on Friday night inside the Crown Coliseum.

Fayetteville opened the scoring 37 seconds in when Jake Hauswirth put the puck past Matt Zenzola but the Ice Flyers evened things up 29 seconds later when John Gustafsson scooped up a rebound of a Patrick Megannety shot, spun around, and fired it into the open net while Fayetteville goalie Sean Bonar was caught out of position. The Ice Flyers took the 2-1 lead thanks to a power play goal by Bryan Dallaire with 3:18 left in the first. Gustafsson scooped up a loose puck and threw it over to Dallaire in the top of the slot who ripped one home. Austin McKay had the other assist on Dallaire's first goal as an Ice Flyer.

The FireAntz tied the game up when a Joe Kalisz shot trickled through with 12:33 left in the second while the FireAntz were on the power play. Former Ice Flyer Christian Horn used an unassisted effort to put Fayetteville back in the lead with 7:09 left in the second. Fayetteville pushed their lead to 4-2 when Hauswirth scored his second of the game 18 seconds after Horn's goal. After Hauswirth's second goal, Zenzola was replaced in net by John McLean.

The FireAntz iced the game with an empty netter by Tayler Thompson with 1:05 remaining in the third period.

Zenzola stopped 17 of the 21 shots he faced in 33:09 of action while McLean stopped all 12 shots he faced in 26:18 of action.

The Ice Flyers will face the FireAntz again tomorrow night, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m. Central. Fans interested in watching the game can do so at SPHLLive.com.
