Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE begin a home-and-home series against the Spokane Chiefs at Western Financial Place on Friday, September 28.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.

ICE 2018-19 Club Leaders:

The ICE are coming off of a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday, September 22. The ICE received two goals from Connor McClennon along with markers from Peyton Krebs, Brett Davis and Cole Muir. Jaeger White, who made his regular season ICE debut on Saturday, registered two assists. Goaltender Duncan McGovern stopped 33-of-36 shots. The ICE were outshot 36-34. The ICE went 2-for-6 on the power play, 4-for-5 on the penalty kill and won 40 of 74 faceoffs.

With his goal Saturday, Brett Davis is one goal away from reaching 50 career WHL goals.

The Chiefs travel to Cranbrook for the first time this season to begin a home-and-home series against the ICE. The Chiefs are coming off a season-opening 6-1 loss to the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 22. Riley Woods potted the lone goal for the Chiefs while Nolan Reid and Eli Zummack recorded the assists. Goaltender Dawson Weatherill stopped 20-of-26 shots. The Chiefs were outshot 26-25. They went 1-for-4 on the power play, 4-for-4 on the penalty kill and won 24-of-46 faceoffs.

HEAD TO HEAD DURING THE 17-18 SEASON

The ICE and the Chiefs met five times during the 2017-18 regular season, with the ICE managing a record of 1-3-1-0.

Spokane has won the last three meetings between these two teams. The last time the Chiefs and the ICE faced off, the Chiefs picked up a 5-3 victory thanks to a three-point performance by Edmonton Oilers draft pick Kailer Yamamoto.

The ICE are 3-3-2-0 in the last eight games against the Chiefs at Western Financial Place. Overall, both home and away, the ICE are 5-7-3-0 in the last 15 games games against the Chiefs.
