Ice Bears Quick Start Does Not Hold Up

Knoxville, TN - The Macon Mayhem scored three power play goals to erase a two-goal deficit from the first period to beat the Knoxville Ice Bears 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Macon ran its win streak to five games. Knoxville fell short in its attempt to win consecutive games for the first time since the first two games of the regular season back in October.

Brad Pawlowski scored on a one-timer from the blue line 4:01 into the opening period. Bret Peppler notched his fifth of the year with a slap shot from the right circle less than two and a half minutes later to give the Ice Bears a 2-0 lead at the end of the first.

Nick Grasso cut the deficit in half for Macon with a power play goal from the high slot that went in off the post at 6:12 of the second. Joshua Ranalli tied the game at 12:04 with the Mayhem's second power play conversion. Macon took the lead when Ryan Michel scored the game winner 13 seconds into a Knoxville penalty at 12:01 of the third period. Shawn Skelly scored an empty netter in the final minute.

Macon finished 3-of-4 on the man advantage. Knoxville entered the game with the league's worst power play. Knoxville will host Mississippi on New Year's Day at 7:30 - Friends and Family tickets are available online only, four tickets, four Knoxville Ice Bears hats for only $59.
