Ice Bears Fall in OT 4-3

Knoxville, TN - Kyle McNeil scored two goals, including the game-winner off a penalty shot in overtime, and the Huntsville Havoc beat the Knoxville Ice Bears, 4-3 Saturday night.

Trailing 2-0 after the first period, the Havoc scored to go into the second intermission with the score tied. Jeremy Beirnes gave Huntsville its first lead of the night off a one-timer when Nick Schneider sent a saucer pass from the right circle into the slot.

The Ice Bears forced overtime when Hosmer scored his second of the night with a slap shot from the right circle on the power play. It was the only power play goal of the weekend for Knoxville.

Knoxville opened up the scoring with two goals 46 seconds apart late in the first period. The first came when Hosmer sent the puck into the slot from the left corner. The puck deflected off a Huntsville skate and slid between the pads of Kevin Genoe. Reid scored the second off a rebound from an Andrew Bonazza shot.

Huntsville responded in the second with two quick goals of their own. McNeil scored his first off a redirect at 5:04 and Brett Lutes beat Torris five-hole 23 seconds later. The Havoc lost forward Jason Popek 21 seconds into the game after suffering an upper body injury from colliding with Corey Hale at the Huntsville blue line.
