I-Cubs Can'T Catch E-Train

Round Rock, TX - Iowa got hits from all nine starters, but three errors and 15 Round Rock hits propelled the Express (10-10) past the I-Cubs (9-11) 10-6, Tuesday at Dell Diamond.

Iowa wasted no time, getting on the board with a two-RBI double from Victor Caratini in the first inning. Round Rock made up ground with a run in the second, but Iowa maintained its' lead until the fourth. The Express offense caught fire as the home team scored three runs in three consecutive innings, helped by a two-RBI double by Drew Robinson and a three-run home run off the bat of Cesar Puello.

Iowa showed life in the sixth as Caratini brought in his third run of the night with a sacrifice fly and Mark Zagunis hit his third home run in four games with a two-run shot to left-center. The I-Cubs rallied for a run in the ninth, but ran out of time for the comeback.

Caratini, Taylor Davis and Zagunis all added to their batting streaks as the players have hits in 10, eight and seven straight games respectively. Davis has also reached base in a league-leading 36 games dating back to last season.

Williams Perez fell to 0-3 on the season after allowing seven runs, six earned, over 5.0 innings. Eddie Gamboa (2-1) captured the win.

Iowa takes the day off tomorrow before returning to Principal Park for a five-game series against Colorado Springs beginning Thursday at 7:05 p.m. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
