Iowa Cubs News Release

Metairie, LA - The Iowa Cubs had just taken a 2-1 lead over the New Orleans Zephyrs in the seventh inning when the rain came, causing a suspension. The game will restart in the bottom of the seventh, tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Zephyr Field and will be followed by the regularly scheduled contest.

For the second night running, Iowa was kept off the boards until late in the game. With a 1-0 deficit entering the sixth, the I-Cubs knotted the score as Arismendy Alcantara brought in Juan Perez on a ground out. The I-Cubs scored the go-ahead run when Ryan Kalish singled and scored from first off of a double from Tim Federowicz. Kalish is 3-for-3 so far in this game and has reached base in 13 of his last 15 at-bats, going 8-for-10 with five walks.

In his first start since a nine-day stint on the disabled list, Iowa starter Pierce Johnson threw five strong innings. The righty allowed one earned run off six hits and walked one while striking out five.

Iowa returns to Principal Park for an eight-game homestand beginning Saturday, April 23 at 7:08 p.m. Promotions include Buffalo Wild Wings Pre-Game Catch on the Field on Saturday and Jake Arrieta Beanie Beard Night on April 25. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
