Hurricanes Trade Sittler to Spokane

Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

CALGARY, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club have traded goaltender Jayden Sittler and the 107th overall (fifth round) selection in this year's draft to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for the 52nd overall (third round) and the 140th overall (seventh round) selection in this year's Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Sittler, who was originally acquired from the Victoria Royals at the 2015 WHL trade deadline for a seventh round draft pick, spent parts of two seasons with the Hurricanes. In 59 games as a 'Cane, Sittler posted a record of 25 -26-0-1 along with a 3.39 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

The Red Deer, Alberta product is slated to become an overage player next season. Sittler posted career bests in wins, goals against average and save percentage during the 2015-2016 season. In 39 games, he posted a 19-14-0-1 record along with a 2.94 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

"Having Sittler here was one of the most important player transactions we've done over the last year and a half. He gave us, and Stuart Skinner, support and was a fantastic teammate. I've got nothing but good to say about Jayden Sittler. In my mind, he'll always be a Lethbridge Hurricane because of what he did here for us," said Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt. "What this trade does, is it allows [Sittler] to be a number one goaltender in our league, which he deserves a chance to be and what he wouldn't have had here," continued Anholt. "It was a goal for me to close off a couple windows [in the draft]. We get an early third and we give up our fifth, which is really late in the fifth round, and we add an early seventh. So it's a good deal for us."
