Saint John Riptide News Release
(HALIFAX, NS): The Saint John Mill Rats were romped by the #1 Halifax Hurricanes, 130-86, at the Scotiabank Centre on Saturday night.
The Hurricanes take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Atlantic Division Championship Series with Game 2 this afternoon at 4 PM at the Scotiabank Centre.
"There wasn't anything I saw that I liked in the game about our effort," said Mill Rats Head Coach Rob Spon. "Halifax isn't #1 by fluke, and we are going to have to execute the game plan with great effort to give ourselves a chance to win."
After the first quarter the score was 44-18 and the lead for Halifax was never in doubt.
The Mill Rats leading scorer Gabe Freeman returns from a two-game suspension this afternoon.
Keith Gayden led the Mill Rats with 18, and Garrius Holloman and Anthony Anderson had 16 each. Justin Johnson led Halifax with 22 points.
