Hurricanes Recall Zykov from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled forward Valentin Zykov from the American Hockey League's (AHL) Charlotte Checkers, the team announced today.

Zykov, 22, currently leads the AHL in goals (32) and power-play goals (16) and ranks tied for ninth in the league in points (52) in 61 games for the Checkers. The St. Petersburg, Russia, native has yet to appear in an NHL game this season, and has scored one goal in two career NHL contests with the Hurricanes. Zykov (6'1", 224 lbs.) has totaled 100 points (55g, 45a) in 172 career AHL games. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Hurricanes in exchange for Kris Versteeg on Feb. 28, 2016.
