Hurricanes Reassign Zach Boychuk To Albany

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Zach Boychuk to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Boychuk played in all seven of Carolina's games from Jan. 2-16, on two separate recalls from the AHL.

This completes the third NHL recall of the season for Boychuk, 20, who has earned one assist in nine games this season with the Hurricanes. The Airdrie, Alb., native ranks tied for second among River Rats skaters in goals (11) and second on the team in points (24). Drafted in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk totaled 110 goals and 161 assists (271 points) in 237 career Western Hockey League (WHL) games for Lethbridge. Albany completes its three-in-three weekend today at 4:05 p.m. in Providence for the team's final game before the All-Star Break.
