Hurricanes Hockey Staff Returns in Full

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club is excited to announce that the team's hockey staff will return in full for the 2018- 2019 season; while also adding to the staff.

Hurricanes Head Coach Brent Kisio will return for a fourth season behind the bench. Kisio, who has signed a contract extension, sits third all- time in coaching victories in Hurricanes history with 121 wins. The 35-year-old is slated to serve as an Assistant Coach for Canada at the 2019 World Junior Championship in Vancouver and Victoria.

Assistant Coach Jeff Hansen has agreed to a contract extension as he will return for his second year with the team. The 36-year-old Hansen joined the Hurricanes last year after serving as a Video Coach with the Calgary Hitmen for four years. Hansen will serve as a Video Coach for Canada at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November.

Josh MacNevin returns for his fourth season as an Assistant Coach with the Hurricanes. The 41-year-old joined the 'Canes prior to the 2015- 2016 season. The former New Jersey Devils draft pick served as an Assistant Coach for one season with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns prior to joining the Hurricanes.

Hurricanes Assistant/Video Coach Andrew Doty will return for a fifth season with the team. Doty joined the team during the 2014-2015 season as a Video Coach before taking on more responsibility for the 2015-2016 season including serving as Assistant to the General Manager. Doty is fresh off capturing a gold medal with Canada at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Tournament in Edmonton.

"We're really excited to have our entire hockey staff return for the upcoming season," said Hurricanes general manager Peter Anholt. "I'm really impressed with how hard our coaching staff works and how prepared our team is on a nightly basis."

The team has also announced the addition of Matt Anholt to the coaching staff. The 24-year-old Anholt will serve as a Skills and Development Coach. The son of Hurricanes general manager Peter Anholt, recently concluded a four-year stint at the University of Alaska-Anchorage where he played NCAA hockey, serving as Captain for the last two years.

"Matt will be a great add to our staff. He will work with our current players and will spend time working very closely with our prospects," said Peter Anholt. "Skill development is so important in today's game and we want to give our players the best opportunity we can to develop."

The Hurricanes have also added Garry Carson to the scouting staff. Carson has a plethora of experience in scouting and hockey operations having served most recently as a scout for the Medicine Hat Tigers. He is also the Director of Scouting and Player Development for the Yorkton Terriers in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

"We're very, very pleased to add someone with Garry's knowledge and experience. We feel he is a great addition to our already strong scouting staff," added Anholt.

The Hurricanes begin their 2018 Training Camp on August 23rd at the ENMAX Centre. The 'Canes will start their 2018 ENMAX Pre-Season on Friday, August 31st when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to the ENMAX Centre.
