Hurricanes Defeat the Island Storm

Halifax, NS- The Halifax Hurricanes were back in action Sunday afternoon in Halifax, taking on Atlantic Division rival, the Island Storm. The Storm brought a depleted roster into Halifax, with four of their starters on the bench with injuries. The Canes took full advantage of the Storm's shortened bench, defeating them 120-102 at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, NS.
The Canes started the game with a high scoring first quarter, scoring 35 points to the Storm's 25. The Storm refused to go away and were able to keep the game close, closing the half trailing 58-49. The Storm continued to put the pressure on the Canes, getting to within four points of the Canes halfway through the third quarter. In the end, Halifax's bench was too deep for the Storm, and Halifax used their fresh legs to drop 34 points in the final frame, finishing the game with a 120-102 win. Halifax improves their NBLC best record to 11-1.
Halifax sharpshooter Ta'quan Zimmerman led the way for the Canes, scoring 20 points with four of seven shooting from beyond three point range. Power Forward Tyrone Watson scored 18 points and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists. CJ Washington contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds.
The Storm got a huge game from their Point Guard, Jahii Carson, who scored 34 points with 8 rebounds and hit 14 of 15 free throws on the night. Forward Al Richter scored 18 points and Forward Wayne McCulloch added 16 points in his start for the Storm in the NBLC.
The game saw 69 total free throws in a physical game. The Storm took 42 free throws to Halifax's 27.
The Hurricanes will take on the Island Storm again in PEI on February 2. Halifax has won all three games between the two teams so far.
