Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club defeated the Mill Rats 89-82 in NBL Canada action April 30th at the Harbour Station. The Hurricanes are back in the winning column, and with this win the Hurricanes are 29-11 - finishing the regular season as the #1 team in the league.
Hurricanes and the Mill Rats were even after the first quarter 21-21. In the second quarter the Hurricanes outscored the Mill Rats 21-13, and the Hurricanes lead 42-34 at halftime. In the third quarter the Mill Rats outscored the Hurricanes 21-22. The Hurricanes and the Mill Rats were even 26-26 in the final quarter and the Hurricanes prevailed; The final score of the game was 89-82.
Guard, Justin Johnson scored 19 points. Forward, Billy White scored 14 points. Center, Kyle Hunt scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Forward, Mike Glover scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Guard, Cameron Bennerman scored 10 points.
Forward, Olu Famutimi led the Mill Rats with 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Forward, Jean-Richard Volcy scored 13 points. Forward, Gabe Freeman scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Forward, Johnny Mayhane scored 12 points.
Hurricanes will play the Island Storm in first round of the playoffs; May 5th, May 6th, May 8th and May 10th & May 11th if necessary.
